Projects & lists
Projects are the top level of your workspace; lists divide a project into the buckets that suit it. Both are quick to make, rename, reorder, and remove — and there’s one deliberate rule about lists that keeps everything tidy.
Projects
A project is a body of work or an area of life — Marketing site, Engineering, Personal. Make one from the New project button at the bottom of the sidebar, give it a name, and it appears in the list of projects with a place to start adding lists and tasks.
Projects
- Create
- New projectin the sidebar footer. Name it and it’s ready.
- Rename
- Open the project’s menu and rename in place — the change applies everywhere at once.
- Reorder
- Drag a project up or down in the sidebar to set the order you want to see them in.
- Delete
- Sends the project to the Bin with an Undo toast. Nothing is gone for good until the Bin is emptied.
- Leave
- On a project shared with you, Leaveremoves it from your sidebar without affecting anyone else’s copy.
The project view
Open a project to see its lists and tasks together in one view, with the always-available add bar at the bottom. It’s the home base for that body of work — everything in the project, in one place, ready to sort and group however you like.

Ownership & sharing
Every project has exactly one owner — the person responsible for it. When a project is shared with other people, a small people icon appears next to its name in the sidebar so you can tell at a glance which projects are collaborative and which are just yours. The full story of invites and roles lives in Sharing & roles.
Lists
Lists live inside a project and split it into the buckets it needs — phases like Launch checklist and Post-launch, or workstreams, or simple groupings. Each list shows a count of its open tasks, so you can see where the work is piling up without opening anything.
- Create
- New list in the sidebar footer adds a list to the current project.
- Rename
- Rename a list from its menu; tasks inside it stay put.
- Reorder
- Drag lists within a project to order them the way the work flows.
- Delete
- Goes to the Bin with Undo, same as projects.
Lists stay with their project
Here’s the one rule worth remembering: a list is locked to the project it was made in. You can rename it, reorder it, or delete it — but you can’t move a list into a different project. Projects are real boundaries (people, sharing, ownership), and a list belongs to exactly one of them.
